GATTAKA
Brianny Gattaka Santos’ (known by her stage name GATTAKA) life story is a testament to that. Growing up in New Jersey, GATTAKA faced many challenges. Born into humble beginnings, Her family relied on borrowed clothing, food stamps, and Medicaid to get by. These circumstances were enough to discourage the average person. Lucky for GATTAKA, not only did she have her mother, who instilled a strong foundation of faith and encouragement to overcome these obstacles, she had also found solace in the thing that kept her grounded for years to come, music.
Her passion for music began at the age of three when she was living in Brazil with her grandparents.Her grandfather, a musician, would play the saxophone for her every night while she sang along to Christian hymns. This expression of love between GATTAKA and grandfather developed into a love for music that has been with her ever since.
GATTAKA always knew she loved music but in second grade, she saw the school musical, "The Wizard of Oz," the love for music evolved into a desire to perform as well; but it was not until GATTAKA was 17 years old that she knew her calling was to minister through worship.
This realization led GATTAKA to take steps that she deemed necessary to train the skill she loved so much. To her that meant getting a formal music education. Despite the odds of attending college and receiving a graduate degree being only 3.7% in her hometown of Elizabeth, NJ, GATTAKA was determined to attend college and earned a Bachelor's degree in music and worship.
Upon graduating college, GATTAKA was presented with the opportunity to become a worship leader in local and mega churches in New Jersey. She also worked on music video sets and recording studios while producing her own music. Now with the degree in music and worship, and the experience to match. GATTAKA felt ready to pursue a career as a Christian music artist. Thus, GATTAKA was born.
GATTAKA, is now a singer-songwriter and rising star within the Gospel/Christian music industry. With musical influences such as Whitney Houston, Tori Kelly, Cynthia Erivo, Israel Houghton, Kirk Franklin, Kim Walker Smith, and Gabriela Rocha, she has cultivated a unique musical style that serves as a beacon of hope in the Christian music industry.
GATTAKA has been told over and over that her chances of making it in this industry were 1 in a million. She uses those words as encouragement by chasing the impossible, just to prove to the masses how great God is. Her faith in God and love for music has never wavered. So, with her powerful voice and heartfelt lyrics, GATTAKA is committed to her dream of sharing the Gospel with you all through music.
